Accounting & Management

Introduction to Business

9th - 10th

1/2 CTE Credit (one semester)

This project-based introductory course will provide a solid foundation in business principles and prepare you for future PCH business courses! Create and sell products, produce advertisements, deliver presentations, and much more! The experiences students gain in this course will help them to succeed in future personal and business endeavors.

Microsoft Office

1 Business Class required

10th - 12th

1/2 CTE Credit (one semester)

Learn advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite. Skills learned in this course will be useful for students while furthering their education and in their future career. Students will learn ways to enhance documents in Word, develop professional spreadsheets and charts in Excel, create high quality presentations in PowerPoint, and design useful databases in Access.

Accounting 1

10th - 12th

1 CTE credit (one year)

Students interested in learning how businesses operate, students interested in accounting can all benefit from taking Accounting I. Students will learn financial accounting concepts including the accounting equation, the accounting cycle, entering transactions, posting to ledgers, preparing financial statements and payroll systems.

Accounting 2

11th - 12th
1 CTE credit (one year)

Prerequisite: Accounting 1
Honors Option and Dual Credit

Apply knowledge from Accounting I by mastering advanced accounting activities and concepts. The topics included are departmentalized accounting, inventory planning, depreciation, notes, accrued expenses and revenues, stocks, bonds, and dividends. Accounting II provides the foundation of skills and knowledge with which to pursue study in college or enter the work world.

Honors Accounting 3

12th
1 CTE credit (one year)

Prerequisite: Accounting 2
Dual Credit

In Honors Accounting III, Students will learn how to gather and provide data for making financial decisions. This year-long course builds on students’ previous financial accounting knowledge and covers managerial accounting concepts. Concepts in this course include budget planning, financial statement analysis, cost accounting, partnerships, governmental accounting, and non-profit accounting.

Business Management

11th - 12th

1/2 CTE Credit (one semester)

Digital Media

Intro to Computer Technologies

9th - 12th

1/2 CTE Credit (one semester)

This course will allow students to gain skill in the use of many different technology applications and tools, and give them an opportunity to be creative by applying those skills to class projects. Learn basic video editing, graphic design, animation, web design, video editing, and more!

Branding & Design Concepts

10th - 12th

1/2 CTE Credit (one semester)

Prerequisite: ICT

Students will build an understanding of the role of design in marketing, promoting and advertising a brand. Focus is placed on the impact of visual communication. Students will produce logo designs, select brand assets, create a visual identity system, and publish a brand style guide for a real world client.

Digital Animation

10th - 12th

1/2 CTE Credit (one semester)

Use Animate CC to create your own original vector graphics and animations! Use the toolbar and graphic tablet to draw animations, combine them with text, and then watch as they are played on the video board! Click to see student examples.

Web Design 1

10th -12th

1/2 CTE Credit (one semester)

ICT Recommended prior to this course.

Students will design and create websites using HTML, CSS, and some Javascript. Use graphic design and coding skills to design websites that look professional, incorporate the latest web trends, and communicate and function effectively. Click to see student work.

Web Design 2

Prerequisite: Web Design 1

This project-based course allows students the opportunity to apply the fundamentals learned in Web 1 while developing additional web design and development skills. Students work on teams to create websites for industry partners. The roles on those teams are chosen by the students according to their learning goals. Personalized and experiential! Multimedia

Use creative production skills to storyboard, film, and edit videos! This course is project-based and includes a variety of video production projects including music videos, commercials, how-to videos, sports profiles, and more. Multimedia 2

10th-12th

1/2 CTE Credit (one semester)

Prerequisite: Multimedia

This course will build upon the skills learned in Multimedia but with more opportunity for personalized learning. Decide the videos you want to create while learning more stylistic effects and camera shots! Students may also choose to be on the Video Board Crew for PCH Athletics, and take the Video Board Internship in conjunction with this course.

AP Computer Science Principles

This course helps students prepare for success in computing majors and careers as well as a broad range of other fields and interests. Along with the fundamentals of computing, they’ll build skills in: creative problem solving, big data analysis, and programming while studying the global impacts of computing, internet structures and important cyber security issues.

AP Computer Science

10th- 12th

Prerequisite: Intro to Comp Sci

Internship is a collaborative partnership between you, the school, and an external organization. In this program, you will work for a company and research and analyze the industry. Gain valuable insight while building experience, achieving your personal goals, and establishing important connections in the field. This program can lead to increased levels of clarity when declaring a college major or pursuing work after high school.

Video Board Internship

Are you interested in sports marketing? Join our Video Board Crew! This internship is an in-house experience for juniors and seniors who want to apply their technical skills and marketing knowledge to an athletic industry.
