Work Space

Everyone needs a space to do some work! I got my art table from Amazon, although I didn't really need one specific for art. Before this I was working at the kitchen counter, which my family didn't appreciate. The desk was only about 100$, and my back is thanking me for having a place to sit up straight to paint.

Jars and jars...

When I paint, I tend to use a lot of different brushes and colors, so I need a lot of water to keep them clean and wet. Dry paint in brushes can be fixed, but it takes a while and the brush usually isn't the same after, so keeping them wet while painting is key, especially if you plan on using the same brush later on. I like to use whatever large old jar my dad no longer has a need for.

Apply that paint!

Although I don't know what paint brushes I use (I tend to collect any cheap ones I can find) I do need a variety of different shapes and sizes. The biggest brushes, the ones on the farmost right, are what I typically use for big background colors, and the smallest for detailing. I don't tend to use my rounded brushes as often as the rest, but they come in handy for flower petals, leaves, or clouds.

Purples and greens and blues, oh my!

The most important part of painting- the actual paint. Paints tend to be expensive, so I stock up whenever I find a discount on paint. I don't stick with a specific brand, but I generally always paint with acrylics. I prefer to mix colors myself, hence the tubes of a variety of all the main colors, but I do have a set of smaller tubes that have a wide variety of different shades of colors.

Mixing it up

Palletes can be anything, and trust me when I say anything. I've worked paint on a plastic plate to the back of a christmas cookie tin lid (which is what I'm using in the bottom of the picture). You can just use anything really, but if you want to buy a pallete specifically, I picked up the plastic ones from Five Below for, you guessed it, five dollars. Paper isn't as recommended, it tends to soak up the paint, so something like plastic or metal works best.
